Award Ceremony 2021

On 15 October 2021 the winners of the Green Talents Competition 2021 have been honoured during the second virtual Green Talents Award Ceremony. Parliamentary State Secretary Dr Michael Meister awarded 25 young dedicated ambassadors of global sustainability and valued their contributions worldwide to create a sustainable society.

This year, a high-ranking jury of German experts selected 25 up-and-coming researchers among 467 applicants from 78 countries as Green Talents 2021. The Green Talents Virtual Science Forum took the awardees on an exciting virtual journey to explore Germany’s sustainability research landscape, network with renowned German researchers, and meet their fellow award winners and Green Talents alumni.

By having the chance to establish contacts with the German science community and to exchange exciting ideas with some of its key innovators, the awardees were able to lay the foundations for future cooperation. These opportunities are accompanied by an invitation to come to Germany in 2022 for a fully funded research stay at an institution of their choice.

As the grand finale of the Virtual Science Forum, the 25 Green Talents were honoured by Dr Michael Meister, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Education and Research, during a virtual award ceremony on 15 October 2021. Dr Meister and moderator Nadine Kreutzer led through a varied and diverse programme, ending with the virtual presentation of the certificates to the Green Talents 2021, who are spread across the world in different time zones.
