Success Stories

Germany welcomes the Green Talents with an abundance of first-class research facilities and excellent living conditions. It is, therefore, not surprising that some Green Talents have seized the chance to stay in the country following their research stay and are now working at renowned German institutes, universities and companies. Fruitful collaboration

McKenna-Travers Award winner

We are pleased to announce that Green Talent 2021 Leticia Benavalli is the winner of the 2022 McKenna-Travers Award for Compassionate Conservation. She was recognized for her outstanding work improving jaguar welfare in Cerrado, Brazil.

Winner of Urban Innovation Program

Bibek Shrestha and his team were among the top 10 winners in Kathmandu Metropolitan City Office Business Hub's Urban Innovation Program conducted with UNDP Nepal and Impact Hub Kathmandu with their project CUBES.

Green Talents collaboration with great outcome

Curtis Rollins and Claire Doll were awarded a University of Western Australia (UWA) Research Collaboration Award to support data collection for their research stays. This award brings them together with early-career researchers, along with their supervisors and Green Talents hosts.

2022 DAAD STIBET Grant for Outstanding Commitment

This year’s prestigious DAAD STIBET prize for outstanding commitment of international doctoral students is granted to George K. Parku, who is conducting his PhD at IKFT in the Group of Prof Dahmen.

 

D. W. Ambridge prize

Georgia Pierrou has been awarded the competitive D. W. Ambridge Prize for her doctoral work at McGill University. This prize is awarded to an outstanding McGill graduate pursuing a PhD in any discipline of science or engineering in 2021-2022.

PyPSA meets Earth

Soheil​ Mohseni​ has designed an energy network for Stewart Island/Rakiura, as part of his PhD studies at Victoria University of Wellington, looking at off-grid networks.

Fruitful Collaboration

Three 2019 Green Talents worked successfully on a journal article on Anthropocene Science together. Sheikh Adil Edrisi, Priyanka Sarkar and Jaewon Son published a meta-analysis on land degradation and land restoration. Learn more about their outcome here.

 

 

 

Marine Affairs Welcomes New Faculty Member

Hannah Harrison will join the Marine Affairs Program as an Assistant Professor in July. Hannh comes to Dalhousie after three years as the Science Director for the Coastal Routes project and postdoctoral scholar the University of Guelph and will be responsible for core elements of the MMM program.
