Tonni Kurniawan is one of the winners of the Science Tour 2016

On the occasion of the Year of Science 2016 “City of the Future”, launched by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) invites international scientists to learn more about research activities in the area of urban transition, mobility and logistics at German universities and research institutes.

The Science Tour offers German and international researchers the opportunity to discuss current developments with regard to future urban development and to define common areas of interest as starting points for future cooperation. It is part of the “Research in Germany – Land of Ideas” campaign, initiated by the BMBF in 2006 to strengthen and expand R&D collaboration between Germany and international partners.

The tour took the participants to universities and research institutes in the cities of Aachen, Wuppertal, Darmstadt, Stuttgart and Munich. It provided opportunities to meet and network with German scientists, visit research labs and get first-hand information on funding opportunities for joint higher education projects and research collaborations.

The Science Tour was organised and hosted by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Representatives of the DAAD accompanied the tour and provided support in the follow-up period.

The programme started on Sunday, 31 January 2016 at 5pm in Bonn and ended on Saturday, 6 February in Munich.
